My priority date is current under the upcoming bulletin, but there was an alert suggesting no more approvals in my category after a certain date. Is there any chance an officer reserved a visa number for my case before that announcement, or should I assume I have to wait until the next fiscal year?

If no medical RFE or final review has happened yet, many people expect the case may wait until the next allocation cycle.

Only the officer or USCIS system can know whether a number was allocated to a specific case.
